About Us

UN-BEHA

is an independent non-profit and community-focused organization working in the areas of education, humanitarian assistance, psychosocial wellbeing, healthcare awareness, cultural development, and community support across Afghanistan, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Iran.

The roots of the organization trace back to around 2004, when a number of local community initiatives, volunteer groups, educational circles, cultural associations, and humanitarian activities informally began operating in different communities. Over time, these activities gradually expanded and evolved into a broader coordination and umbrella network that later became known as UN-BEHA.

Today, the organization includes a number of affiliated local entities, educational initiatives, cultural associations, and community-based groups, some of which are also independently and officially registered under their respective local frameworks while remaining part of the wider UN-BEHA network and coordination structure.

UN-BEHA has played an active role in supporting vulnerable and underserved populations, particularly women, girls, children, orphans, widows, persons with disabilities, displaced families, returnees, and low-income communities through inclusive and community-based initiatives.

The organization has contributed to strengthening educational and cultural centers, supporting free and inclusive education opportunities, promoting literacy and reading culture, donating educational materials and books, coordinating scholarships, organizing language and capacity-building programs, and supporting youth development and leadership initiatives in different communities.

UN-BEHA has also implemented psychosocial support activities, awareness programs, educational competitions, humanitarian coordination efforts, and community wellbeing initiatives aimed at strengthening dignity, resilience, inclusion, and access to essential support services for vulnerable populations.

Particular attention has been given to promoting educational access and social participation for girls, women, children, and especially persons with disabilities through inclusive and community-centered approaches.

The organization continues to work through coordination with volunteers, charitable networks, educational institutions, healthcare actors, cultural representatives, and local stakeholders to strengthen community resilience, social inclusion, and sustainable community development across the region.

Our Mission

UN-BEHA is committed to promoting inclusive education, humanitarian support, psychosocial wellbeing, healthcare awareness, cultural development, and community-based initiatives to strengthen dignity, resilience, equal opportunities, and sustainable social development for vulnerable populations.

Note

Some representations, affiliated associations, and community offices of UN-BEHA currently operate at local and small-scale levels based on available community resources and local coordination capacities, and is not affiliated with the United Nations.
